Welcome to the Philippines Capstone Experience

Welcome to the Philippines Capstone Experience!

Nine senior nursing students and 2 faculty (Dr. Gina Diaz and Dr. Julie Knuths) from The College of St Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota http://www.css.edu/academics/school-of-nursing.html are heading out to the Philippines after Christmas break for transcultural nursing experience as part of the senior capstone course. They will spend a considerable amount of time caring for the sick and healthy individuals both in the acute care setting and the community. They will be collaborating and will be working closely with the Filipino nursing students from Mary Johnston College of Nursing http://mjcn.pcu.edu.ph/ and the staff from Mary Johnston Hospital http://maryjohnston.ph/about-us/company-profile/

As part of the preparation for travel, students and faculty collected donations for the community as well as helpful resources/references for the hospital staff. The collected items include toothbrushes, tubes of toothpaste, children's vitamins, infant formulas, gloves, masks, alcohol wipes, hand sanitizers, soaps and shampoos from hotels, children's books, stuffed animals, sling backpacks, and nursing reference books for the staff.
